goGogetters - you still can lovelife

opinions

goGogetters are linked to community programmes supported by loveLife in all nine provinces, but concentrated in the most under-resourced areas of the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, the North West and Free State.

Through a series of modular training courses, linked to in-service support, loveLife ensures that each goGogetter is equipped with critical knowledge about HIV prevention, children’s rights to education and access to social security, and sources of food support. They will be assisted to advocate on behalf of children denied access to schools and child care grants, and to mobilize community leadership against sexual and physical abuse.

The initiative creates a mechanism for faith-based organizations to become directly involved in HIV prevention. In addition, the database of 10,000 teenagers and children provides a national snapshot of the state of HIV prevention, care and support among particularly vulnerable children, and loveLife will work with the Department of Social Development in overcoming common obstacles to service delivery.
